Editing Data

Overview

Often times there is a need to edit a dataset that exists in a desktop or page. Many times this occurs because the user wishes to view how editing the set causes downstream changes. (such as in an analysis)

When the data has been created in a script, this is relatively easy, as the user can just edit the script. In other cases, it may be hard to make the edits without disgentangling the components in the page or desktop. Other times, you may just want an easy visual way to make the edits.

The davinci platform provides various simple ways to create edits to data.

Note, only one edit type can be applied to a dataset at any time. That is, you cannot both have an edit table bound to a dataset and a script that simultaneously edits the data. Datasets must not have an edits bound to them when a new edit is applied.

Types

The following are the primary methods used to edit data.
