Project Tasks and Dependencies.

Overview

Modeling a project is similar to modeling other business processes. In the case of project modeling, the manager tries to identify the following:

  • Tasks - units of work required to complete the project
  • Task Dependencies - the manner in which each task depends on other tasks
  • Required Resources - employee and material resources.

The plan is intended to give a high level understanding of what is to be accomplished and what the likely costs and time frames will be. The task dependencies can help to identify possible project bottlenecks.

The project plan is typically charted using a Gantt Chart
