Mail

Overview

The mail app lets you send and receive messages to/from your contacts. Messages can be as simple as a text message, or as dynamic as a full davinci page.

New Message

There are three types of messages you can send to another user.
  • Basic Text
  • Page - pages created with the page editor can be sent to a users mail box.
  • Desktop - users can send a copy of their current desktop to another user. When a user receives and clicks on a desktop, they are prompted if they would like to

Desktops run with reduced security (as compared to davinc pages). Users that do not trust the sender of the desktop, should not open or load the desktop. They should select the message and delete it.

When a desktop is sent to another user, if the broadcast checkbox is clicked, this will mean that the desktop is shared. That is, when the user opens the desktop, a connection is made with your current desktop. Changes to apps that participate in real time sharing on one users desktop, are propagated to the other user as well.

Viewing Message

The messages you have received are listed in the nav listbar on the left. To view a message, click on the message in the nav listbar. To view the profile page of the user who sent the message, click the user link inside the message item.

The message will be displayed in the center frame of the mail app. There will be a set of action buttons listed above the message, giving you actions to take with the displyed message.

  • View as Page - opens the message in a new tab and displays as a page
  • Move to my Pages - moves the message out of your inbox, and saves it as a page, accessble from the Home app. When clicked, you will be presented with a folder chooser. You can just save the message to the root folder, or choose an alternate folder (if you have created any).
  • Page Reply - opens the page editor in order to let you create a page that will be sent as the reply to the displayed message. Edit the page as you would any other page. When you click the send link, the send dialog window will be pre-populated with a title and the user to whom you are replying.
  • Text Reply - opens a text editor that you can send a text reply to the user who sent the displayed message.
  • Forward - forwards the message to the desired users.
  • Delete - closes the message and deletes it from the inbox.
  • Close - closes the open message
