Overview

Friends are other users on the network that you have added to your friend list. Users in your friend list have access to your message feed and subscribe to your messages. Friends can also send and receive messages from you.

Searching Contacts

You can search for other users on the platform by entering a set of search terms in the search textbox, and then clicking the search button. A list of users that match your criteria will be displayed.

From the user listing, you can click on the users display name to be taken to the users profile page. In addition, you view the users feeds and request to be a contact of the user.

Adding Contacts

When you first join the davinci network, your contact list is empty. In order to add friends to your friend list you must search and find the account of another user that you wish to connect with. To do so, enter in search terms in the search text box, then click search. This will bring up any accounts that match your search.

To add a user to your contact list, you must request contact with that user. If the user allows contact request from their profile page, you can click the contact request link, enter a message, and click submit.

Alternatively, if you know the username of the user, you can click the "request" link (upper left nav bar of the contacts app). This will open a contact request window. Enter a message and click submit.

Attaching Info to a Friend

When you add a user to your contact list, you may wish to save information about that user for quick recall. For example, you may wish to save their birthday, the company they work for, their childrens names etc.... This may be for social reasons, or for business reasons.

There are three primary ways to attach information to a contact

Shadow Contacts

Because the attached info feature is so useful for managing information about your contacts, davinci creates a way to add a contact to your contact list, even if the person does not have a davinci account or you have not established a contact relationship with them through the platform. These accounts are called shadow accounts.

To add a shadow account, open the shadow account input by clicking the show link. This will display a textbox with an add link. Enter a name in the textbox and click the add link. This will add the name to your contact list. The user will not have a profile, but you can attach a friend info page to this shadow account.

Action Bar

When you click on a contact, you are presented with the users profile in the center frame of the contacts app. Above the profile is listed a set of actions and links related to the selected profile.

• Profile Tab - opens the users profile in a new browser tab
• User Page
• Edit Page - allows you to associate a blog page with the user. This allows you to create more complex content that you may want to save with this user.
• Remove - removes the selected user from your contacts
• Quick Info - the quick info button allows you to associate text with the account. This is a quick and dirty way to save information.
• Subscribe/unsubscribe - lets you subscribe to a users feed. Once subscribed, you can unsubscribe.
