Overview
Measruing disease incidence means counting the number of individuals that contract a given disease. Because the Poisson distribution represents count data, it is natural to model disease incidence by fitting a Poisson distribution to an observed dataset.
The standard methods of Poisson Regression can be used for this purpose.
