Lie Algebras

Overview

Definition

A Lie algebra is a Vector Space {% G %}, that comes with a bi-linear operator {% [\cdot,\cdot] : G \times G \rightarrow G %} such that the following holds:
{% [ax+by,z]=a[x,z]+b[y,z] %}
and which also obeys the Jacobi Identity
{% [x,[y,z]]+[y,[z,x]]+[z,[x,y]]=0 %}
