US Interest Rates

Overview

Interest rates are a measurement of the ammount of money one is required to pay over time in order to borrow money. Rates exist for different currencies and different time periods (maturities). When the sovereign issuer of a currency borrows their own currency, the resulting bonds are usually considered risk free or nearly so in that currency. This is because the sovereign can always print its own currency so any default is one of choice.
