Overview
A business process model is a simple diagram of the steps and decision points of a process.
Design Shapes
The following represent the common understanding of which shapes represent each element of a process diagram.
- Oval - beginning or ending of process
- Rectangle - process box
- Diamond - decision
- Circle - connector, used to avoid crossing arrows.
- Arrow - connects two nodes, sometimes associated with a given decision
Simulating Processes
A Process simulation is a mathematical method of calculating the probable length of a given chain of dependent processes. It can be used to understand the likely range of duration outcomes of a modelled project.
